INITIAL STAGES OF BRIAN LARA'S CRICKET :

Brian Lara's career started with many struggles and hard work . At that time when the Cricket World was full of Super Stars and it was absolutely difficult for any youngster to appear at the top level and the W. Indies was a brilliant team at that time with so many legendary Cricketers , although it was difficult but no impossible to make for the national side .

The Year of 1987 turned out to be the most crucial and critical year of Brian Lara's Cricket career . In one of tournaments he scored heavily and made almost 500 runs in that Championship beating the record of the legendary Hooper , That performance was the confidence booster for Brian Lara . He started his First Class career in 1988 for Trinidad , it was an honor playing for Trinidad and among such huge names , his first game was against Leeward Island . Only in his second first class he showed what he was capable of ,

He scored a blazing half century and scored 92 runs against Barbados , unfortunately got out just before the century mark , it was a tremendous innings against one of the greatest bowlers and extremely quick pace men including Joel Garner . Although he faced many difficulties during that inning but he managed it well , because to face bowlers like Joel garner , very tall , extremely fast and fierce wasn't an easy task , but he played some brilliant shots in that inning and played with immense concentration and confidence . After his performance in the season , he was given the captaincy of West Indies youth team which toured Australia for the Youth World Cup . He showed some leadership skills and scored a brilliant 182 against India which further enhanced his image .Keeping in mind his performance as a Captain in Australia ,the selector selected him as a Captain of Trinidad when Brian Lara was just 20 years Old , he scored many runs during that period , played superb Cricket and lead the team brilliantly .

His career started on a high note and finally that moment arrived for Brian Lara for which he waited for so long , it was his dream to play for the national side . In 1990 he played his First ever Test match against Pakistan , he played some good shots in his first match . His ODI debut was also against Pakistan in 1990 and from there on a journey started for Brian Lara and after that he made several inroads and played some very intense and professional Cricket .
